J. S. Bach - Concerto in D major, BWV 972 After Violin Concerto in D major Op. 3 No. 9, RV 230 by A. Vivaldi
I love Matthias Höfs's playing and especially his sound. There is no question about his virtuosity, especially on the piccolo trumpet, but for me it's much more than that. For me, Matthias Höfs is a perfect example of a beautiful sound on every instrument, any range, any dynamic no matter what he is playing. I love his sound and is one of my favorites for sure. I'm always impressed and fascinated by the way he sings through the trumpet. When it's very technical it's impressive but when he plays some beautiful lyrical melodies, like in his C. P. E. Bach Flute Sonatas CD, it's pure singing, and it touches me and move me a lot.
I attached here two different CDs. One is a great CD with more traditional repertoire and the other one is his new Telemann Concertos CD which is so amazing. With those two CDs one can enjoy Hatthias Höfs's playing on both big instruments like B-flat and C trumpet and also enjoy his unique and unbelievable piccolo playing. Of course, every CD of the German Brass is highly recommended and they will get a separated page with a recommendation about them.
